Any reason why the team decided to use AT3 belt?
I found my answer here :
Thanks,

We tested a couple of different timing belts.
The other belts in this size range that we tested weren’t able to transmit the required torques.
The teeth deformed significantly under load and slipped with respect to the pulley.
The most critical point is the small pulley of the second stage.
The Conti Synchroflex AT3 GEN III belt is extremely tough and handle higher torques than any of the other belts we looked at.
Felix - this is very interesting. Do you know which other belts were tested? Was one of them Mitsuboshi S3M with aramid fiber? These are available on Misumi and are advertised for high torque. Curious if those would be an acceptable alternative.
Hi,
we tested the Concar T2.5, Optibelt Alpha Torque T2.5 and Optibelt Omega 3M.
We haven’t tried the Mitsuboshi S3M.
This timing belt has a different tooth profile with curved tooth shape - we use the AT3 belts with a trapezoidal tooth shape.
You could try it - it might be an acceptable alternative.
You might need to adjust the tooth geometry of the pulleys.
You might also need to retune the belt tension for optimal performance.
Best wishes, Felix
