Information about master board and Micro Driver Electronics (Solo 8dof v2)

Hi All,

I would like to have some information about master board and Micro Driver Electronics used in Solo quadruped robot 8 dof v.2 :

Micro Driver:

  • Max peak current that can be used in Micro Driver (if you know)
  • if it is possible to connect to the Micro Driver, an encoder (magnetic rotary encoder) via SPI with 8 pin instead of 5 pin of the optical encoder.

Have you got a direct contact (e.g. email address) with beta Layout to provide me? Because I wrote to info.de@beta-layout.com, but I didn’t get any answer.

Hi, The max current the board are able to handle is 15A RMS.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use an SPI encoder on the uDriverV2.

We are working on a new motor driver that will be able to handle more current, and offer more option to connect encoders. This new design is expected in the beginning of next year.

I cannot help with BetaLayout, but I think PAL Robotics offer to sell assembled uDriver.

A very promising alternative that could fit a 8dof robot is moteus r4.8 controller – mjbots Robotic Systems
Note that this driver controls a single axis compared to uDriverV2. Also note that we never tested this driver with our motors.
