Encoder as in the guide, but with additional board

Hello,

We are trying to assemble 2DoF leg test stand, and we have ordered encoders as in the components sheet. But when they arrived, I found that there is an external board attached to the encoder, that has 10 output pins instead of 5 original, see related picture. The marking (series, all the numbers) are exactly the same as in the reference photos in the repo.

I have googled that for some time, but there are only datasheets for the original encoder and for another ones that have 10 pins.

I will be glad for a piece of advice about the following:

  1. is it possible to use such an encoder instead of the original one (from
    encoder_with_board
the readme files in the repo)?
  2. should I remove the additional board and reduce the problem of the encoder installation to the known one?

All in all, I will be thankful for any information on the topic.

Yours,
Ilya

Hello IIya,

interesting - I have never seen this version of the encoder.

You’ll definitely have to unsolder or cut off the interface board.

If it’s the AEDT-9810-Z00 encoder and if the pins remain long enough to connect the wires it should work.

Best,
Felix

Hi Felix, thank your for the quick and precise response, I’ll do so.

Ilya
